Trip through the Kolpa valley

Trip through the Kolpa valley

Similar to boating on the Kolpa River, the Kolpa Valley excursions are suitable for those who miss adrenaline experiences (mountain bikers), as well as for families and children. There is an asphalted, traffic-free road that winds along the upper course of the Kolpa River, with branches leading you to sightseeing spots in the surrounding area (Radenci Wall, Sodevci Wall, Kozice).

By bike or on foot along marked paths along the Kolpa River

In the vicinity of Radenci ob Kolpi, i.e. in the upper course of the Kolpa River, a footpath runs along the Kolpa Canyon from Radenci to Damelj. The trail runs directly by the Kolpa River for 10.5 km and is also suitable for cycling with a mountain bike (a trekking bike would also work) for the entire length, except perhaps when crossing a small stream, where you have to step off the bike due to a bridge and steps. A description of this trail with pictures and a route map can be found at this link .

Speaking of cycling – for those cyclists who cannot do without hills, Radenci is a good starting point – you can climb to the highest peak in this part of the Kolpa region – Kozice, from where you have a beautiful view of the village of Dol and the Kolpa Canyon. Below is a map of the circular cycling route from Kočevje to the Kolpa Valley.
